Kusakavitch’s Four Goals Propel WCU past Lindenwood, 6-1
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) fueled West Chester's attack on Sunday afternoon as the fourth-ranked Golden Rams defeated Lindenwood, 6-1, at Vonnie Gros Field in a non-league field hockey match. Kusakavitch record nine points in the game (4 goals, 1 assist), breaking Kayla Gluchowski's school record for points in single game since the program moved to Division II. The Golden Rams jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, beginning with freshman Rachal Toppi's (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) tip off of a penalty corner for her third goal of the season. Junior Alayna Brown (Telford, Pa. / Souderton) contributed with a late goal in the 38th minute. Lindenwood's tally came off a scramble in front that was poked in by Chloe Bell in the 37th minute. Sophomore goalkeeper, Audree Bonavita (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), recorded her second win of the season in the cage for West Chester. She played the first 40 minutes of the contest, before leaving in favor of classmate Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley).Krause recorded two saves, without allowing a goal, over the final 30 minutes. Lindenwood's goalkeeper, Victoria Gil, played the full game, recording 12 saves. West Chester held a 16-4 advantage in penalty corners and a 21-5 edge in shots.
