Nakano Opens 2017 as Men’s Swimming PSAC Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sr., Shota Nakano (Hummelstown, Pa. / Hershey) opened the 2017 season by earning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week. The award was named by that same organization this morning. In the Thomas Murphy Invitational, Nakano registered three first-place finishes for the Golden Rams. The senior claimed the top spot in the 100 and 200 breaststroke as well as the 200 individual medley. The invitational consisted of Drexel, Johns Hopkins, and Loyola University (MD.). Nakano took home first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.39, while winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:04.38. He clocked in a time of 1:55.18 to score first in the 200 individual medley as well. His performance is the first honor of the 2017 campaign for men's swimming.
