Football Heads to Shippensburg for First Round of NCAA II Playoffs
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University's football team learned Sunday that they will participate in the NCAA Division II national tournament. The Golden Rams are the five seed in Super Region 1 and will travel to fourth-seeded Shippensburg University on Saturday.
Shippensburg (10-1) will host West Chester (8-3) for the NCAA First Round game inside Seth Grove Stadium at noon. This is the second time these two teams have faced this season as the Golden Rams downed the hosting Raiders back in October, 37-27. It is the only loss for Shippensburg this season.
For those attending the game, tickets will be $10 adults and $5 for senior citizens/students.
Additionally, there will be bag checks at the gates inside Seth Grove Stadium. Gates are set to open at 10:30 a.m. for the noon kickoff. The following information is being made available for fans in order to prepare for arrival at the Shippensburg University home football game this Saturday at noon from SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium:
Tailgate parking will open at 9:30 a.m.
Ticket gates open at 10:30 a.m.
Seth Grove Stadium will be closed to all spectators until ticket gates open at 10:30 a.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for seniors and students.
No passes of any nature are accepted for entrance for NCAA competition.
Bag checks will be conducted when entering the facility

This marks the 12th overall appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament and first since 2014. The last first round victory for the Golden Rams happened in 2014 as well, defeating Slippery Rock by a final score of 46-20.
The Golden Rams are 9-11 in their previous playoff appearances. West Chester's 12 postseasons are the 11th-most among current NCAA Division II participants.
Sr., RB Jarel Elder (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) currently sits seventh all-time on the school's rushing list with 3,087 rushing yards and fifth all-time on the school's all-purpose yards list with 5,574 yards.
R-Jr., LB LB Tyler Morrissey (Springfield, Pa./Springfield-DELCO) has a team-best 112 tackles thus far this season (53 solo, 59 assist). He is second in the entire Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) in tackles, trailing only Millersville's Sean Dugan at 123. Morrissey broke 100 tackles in a season for the first time since Ronell Williams and Mike Labor in 2013. The winner of Saturday's West Chester-Shippensburg contest will travel to Indiana University of Pa. on Saturday, Nov. 25 for a second-round matchup against the top-seeded IUP Crimson Hawks (11-0), who earned the top seed in the region and the subsequent bye into the second round.
