Tyrell Long Named Co-PSAC East Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Sr., G Tyrell Long (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) captured the first honor of the season for the Golden Rams as he was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week, which was announced by that same organization this morning. Long shared the honor with Kutztown's Ethan Ridgeway. West Chester went a perfect 3-0 this week with victories against Chestnut Hill, Gannon, and Clarion. Long registered 58 points and 22 boards in the trio of wins for the Golden Rams, two of which were in conference action. Against Chestnut Hill on Wednesday, Long tallied 14 points in addition to six boards in a 71-45 victory. The Golden Rams continued their winning streak with a 52-44 win over host Gannon. The senior added 14 points, nine boards, and three steals. In a 91-84 victory over host Clarion on Sunday, Long posted 30 points to go along with seven boards, two steals, and a block. He is tied for the team lead in scoring at 19 points per game with teammate Jackson Hyland (Avondale, Pa./Kennett). West Chester hosts Wilmington University (Del.) on Saturday inside the Schwartz Center at 3 p.m. The Golden Rams are still hosting at Widener University as Hollinger Field House undergoes renovations.
