West Chester Falls to Edinboro in Conference Play
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Julia O'Brien (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) led the Golden Rams with 11 kills, but West Chester fell, 3-1, to Edinboro University in the first game of a doubleheader held at West Chester University in Hollinger Field House Friday morning. Edinboro (8-2, 1-0 PSAC) took the match by scores of 21-25, 25-14, 28-26, and 25-19 over West Chester (7-2, 0-1). Edinboro was one of only three teams with a hitting percentage above .100 in a match so far this season, posting a .105 percentage for the match. Eight reception errors is what hurt the Golden Rams on Friday morning. The Golden Rams recorded 36 kills and produced 58 digs as Marina Sharkey (Newtown Square, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) contributed seven kills and eight digs, while Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) chipped in with five kills. Annalee Halbert (Port Murray, N.J. / West Morris Central) provided 17 assists, while her teammate Macon Frey (Chesapeake, Va. / Great Bridge) posted 13 assists. Cara Reese (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) recorded five kills in addition to eight blocks out of a team total of 12. Callie Krajcir (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) provided 20 digs. West Chester continues play in the crossover tonight against Slippery Rock University at 7:30 p.m. in Hollinger Field House.
