West Chester Falls to Lock Haven, 3-1
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Matt Fioravanti (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) scored his first collegiate goal in the 22nd minute, but it was not enough as Lock Haven defeated host West Chester, 3-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Rockwell Field. Lock Haven (4-1-1, 3-0-0 PSAC) jumped out to an early lead with Troy Amspacher capitalizing on a penalty kick. The Golden Rams (4-3-0, 2-1-0 PSAC) immediately responded as Fioravanti found the back of the next with the assist coming from freshman Brett Glasco (West Chester, Pa. / Rustin). The Bald Eagles took command in the second half with two goals that sealed the PSAC conference win for Lock Haven. After being named the PSAC men's soccer athlete of the week, freshman goalkeeper Matt Palmer (3-2) (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) recorded six saves. Lock Haven's Jonathan Howitt (3-1) picked up the win, while also making three saves. West Chester will travel to Bloomsburg on Saturday, Sept. 27 to take on Bloomsburg University at 5 p.m.
