West Chester Blanks Seton Hill
GREENSBURG, Pa. – Following their first loss of the season, West Chester (6-1, 4-1 PSAC) bounced back by shutting out Seton Hill, 5-0, Saturday morning. The Golden Rams jumped out to an early lead with Alayna Brown (Telford, Pa. / Souderton) setting up Kristina Scherrer (Enola, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) for the goal in the 10th minute.Brown also produced a goal with the assist coming from senior Kelsey Cheek (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest). Freshman Mary Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) contributed two goals, giving her eight points on the season. Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) provided the final goal with the assist by sophomore Caitlin Wood (Plains, Pa. / Coughllin) to help propel West Chester past Seton Hill. Sophomore Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) recorded three saves while playing all 70 minutes in the shutout. Seton Hill's goalkeeper Alexandra Piekarz made 10 saves, allowing two goals. The other goal keeper for the Griffins was Jane Eberhardt with four saves and three goals given up. The Golden Rams return home on Friday, Oct. 3 to take on East Stroudsburg University at Vonnie Gros Field at 5 p.m.
