Toppi's Hat Trick Leads WCU Past East Stroudsburg

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Freshman Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J. / Glassboro) recorded three goals in the first half to propel West Chester (7-1, 5-1 PSAC) to a 6-1 victory over East Stroudsburg (4-5, 3-3 PSAC) Friday night. Mary Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) registered the assist on Toppi's first goal at the four minute mark, giving the Golden Rams momentum for the rest of the game. Toppi blasted her second goal into the upper near post nine minutes later, with the assist going to Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan). The final goal for Toppi came in the 33rd minute. In addition to Toppi, Spisak and Alayna Brown (Telford, Pa. / Souderton) contributed goals for the Golden Rams. Sophomore Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) scored the last goal of the night for the Golden Rams in the 55th minute, which was her ninth goal of the season. East Stroudsburg's Danielle Ard played 52 minutes, posting 11 saves while giving up five goals. Shelby Drissel played the remaining time for the Warriors, allowing one goal. Sophomore (4-1) Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) picked up the win in the cage, making two saves and allowing one goal while playing all 70 minutes. The Golden Rams had a 19 to 10 shot advantage over East Stroudsburg. West Chester remains at home hosting Ursinus College in the "Snell Cup" on Sunday, Oct. 5th at Vonnie Gros Field at 1:00 p.m.
