West Chester Blanks Kutztown, 60-0
KUTZTOWN, Pa. – West Chester (3-0) extended its winning streak to three games by shutting out host Kutztown, 60-0, in a women's rugby match Saturday afternoon. Senior Nicole Benedetti (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) gave the Golden Rams an early lead with a 50 meter run, while her teammate Sophia Schwab (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) ran in it from 30 meters out for her only try of the game. Benedetti led the team with four trys and 20 points for the Golden Rams. West Chester only led 12-0 at halftime, but gained momentum in the second half and never looked back. Arielle Gantt (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Katie Walston (Kennett Square, Pa. / Unionville) each recorded two trys, while sophomore Adriana Zeiders (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield High School) also contributed with a try in the victory. Overall, West Chester had five different players who registered trys. The Golden Rams return home October 18th for a match against Pittsburgh University at 11 a.m. Notes: Benedetti could break a West Chester school record next week, only needing four more trys.
