Eisman Captures First Place at Mark Cooper Invitational
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Junior Amanda Eisman (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) has claimed first place in three out of four races this season, capturing the title at 22:25 for the Golden Rams at the Mark Cooper Invitational, hosted by Slippery Rock on Saturday morning. The Mark Cooper Invitational held 147 runners in the 6k event as West Chester's women's cross country finished in fourth out of 12 teams with a total of 106 points. The Golden Rams were only six points away from Slippery Rock, who finished in third place. Eisman's performance marked the best time on the course by a Golden Ram in the past decade, while her teammate Leigh Manning Smith (West Chester, Pa. / Henderson) ran the second fastest time on this course for West Chester in that same span with a 23:39 for eighth place. Finishing in 20th was Laurel Jones (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) with a time of 24:21, which was eighth best in past decade. In addition, Mallory Drake (Hillsborough, N.J. / Hillsborough) claimed tenth best on the track, running a 24:55 for 38th. West Chester's Ali Smith (Shippensburg / Big Spring) crossed the finish line at 25:19 for 48th andSam Russell (Easton, Pa. / Easton Area) was 119th in 29:36. Shippensburg captured the title with 43 points. Next for the Golden Rams is the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships held at Mansfield University on October 26th at 10 a.m.
