Men’s Soccer Come Back to Beat Shippensburg, 2-1

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – West Chester (6-5, 4-2 PSAC) got back on track, coming back to defeat host Shippensburg, 2-1, in a PSAC conference match Tuesday night. Shippensburg jumped out to an early lead with Derrick Roy recording his first goal of season at the three minute mark for the Raiders. Senior Christian Benner (Tedford, Pa. / Souderton) answered right back for the Golden Rams as he hit a loose ball into the lower left-hand side of the net from ten yards out for his first goal of the season. The match stayed tied 1-1, until freshman Alex Lean (Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock North) found fellow freshman Brett Glasco (West Chester, Pa. / Rustin) open in the clear and he put the ball into the lower right-hand side of the net for what ended up being the game winning goal in the 77th minute. Shippensburg's Evan Raimist played the entire match, making three saves, while giving up two goals. West Chester's goalkeeper Matt Palmer (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) picked up the win with a strong performance in goal, recording eight saves and only allowing one goal in 90 minutes of play. The Golden Rams return to Rockwell Field on Saturday Oct. 18th for a PSAC matchup with Millersville University at 2:30 p.m.
