WEST CHESTER, Pa. – It was a complete team effort as the Golden Rams (13-1-0, 12-1-0 PSAC) defeated the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 9-0, in a PSAC matchup held at Rockwell Field Wednesday afternoon. Senior Dana Hunt (Pittstown, N.J. / Delaware Valley Regional) put West Chester on the scoreboard at the 15 minute mark as the Golden Rams never looked back from that point on. Carly Henry (Perkasie, Pa. / Pennridge) recorded the assist on Hunt's goal as the ball deflected off of the goalie into the net. A Lexi Lentz (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) corner kick setup West Chester's Marissa Valenti (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn Park) for a header making it 2-0. Thirty seconds later Hunt headed in her fifth goal of the season as last week's PSAC player of the week Carly Yost (North Wales, Pa. / North Penn) tacked on the assist. Valenti posted her second goal on the day in the 33rd minute, while Haley Mangiaruga (North Wales, Pa. / North Penn) contributed the assist. In addition, Valenti would go on to record two more assists in the victory. The Golden Rams recorded four goals in the span of six minutes after Valenti's second goal. Sophomore Cynthia Hagerty (Hockessin, Del. / Alexis I Dupont) registered her first goal of the season, while her teammate Mangiaruga posted two goals. The first was a cross that was kicked in, while the other being a cross from Maddy Barretti (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) for the goal. Scarlett Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan) blasted a shot from just outside of the box to pick up her first goal of the season at the 83rd minute mark. The final goal was tacked on in the 89th minute as Laura Slavich (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) posted her second goal of the season. Pittsburgh-Johnstown's Timi Shiock played 66 minutes, making seven saves and giving up seven goals. Leeann Gorman came in the second half, making two saves while surrendering two goals. All four of the goalkeepers on the roster saw action for the Golden Rams as it was a group effort to secure the shutout. Receiving her 13th win of the season was West Chester's Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) who appeared in 45 minutes of play without making a save. Freshman Caroline (Langhorne, Pa. / Villa Joseph Marie) was in for 13 minutes, while both Madie Mitchell (Wall Twp., N.J. / Wall) and Camilla Greeby (Perkiomenville, Pa. / Boyertown) made one save in the shutout. The Golden Rams return to action on Saturday, October 25th as they head to Greensburg, Pennsylvania for a PSAC matchup with Seton Hill University at noon.
