No. 2 West Chester Shuts Out Bloomsburg 2-0
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Freshman forward Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) continues to impress as she recorded a pair of goals in West Chester's 2-0 victory over PSAC rival Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field. Toppi gave the Golden Rams (12-2, 9-1 PSAC) an early lead in the first half by redirecting a shot by teammate Kristina Scherrer (Enola, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) that went into the back of the cage. Scherrer received her seventh assist of the year on the play. In the 25th minute, Toppi registered her second goal of the day by putting back a ball that came right in front of the cage after a save by Bloomsburg's goalie. The pair of goals increased Toppi's season total to 16, in addition to her 34 points that both lead the team. Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) (7-2) picked up her fourth shutout of the season in the cage, posting three saves in 70 minutes of play for the Golden Rams. Bloomsburg's Lindsay Cassel made 13 saves for the Huskies, while surrendering two goals in 70 minutes of action. West Chester had a 21 to 4 advantage in shots over Bloomsburg. Riding a five game winning streak, the Golden Rams will travel to Kutztown, Pa. for a PSAC matchup with Kutztown University on Tuesday, October 28th at 7 p.m.
