West Chester Clinches Playoff Birth
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Golden Rams were able to capture the victory in five sets, 3-2, defeating Kutztown University, Friday night inside Hollinger Field House. West Chester (19-13, 9-12 PSAC) fell in the first set 25-18, but was able to bounce back against the Golden Bears. The entire contest was back and forth as the following sets were 25-17, 19-25, 25-22, and 15-6. West Chester rallied in the fourth set, and then went on to carry that momentum in the final set to claim the victory. Leading the way was senior Julia O'Brien (New Holland, Pa. / Garden Spot) who registered 22 kills, five blocks, and one ace. Chipping in with 12 blocks, four digs, and three blocks was Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley). In addition, Cara Reese (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Fox Chapel) posted 10 kills in the victory. Callie Krajcir (Breinigsville, Pa. / Parkland) had 24 assists, while her teammate Annalee Halbert (Port Murray, N.J. / West Morris Central) contributed 45 assists, 10 digs, and three kills in the victory. Overall, the Golden Rams accumulated seven blocks on the night. West Chester finishes up its regular season schedule on Saturday, Nov. 8th with the finale against East Stroudsburg University inside Hollinger Field House at 1:00 p.m. This win allowed the Golden Rams to clinch a playoff spot. The PSAC tournament is set to begin November 11th at 7:00 p.m. with the location still to be determined.
