Steele-Hook’s Double-Double Helps West Chester Surpass Kutztown

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Jr., F Chikisha Steele-Hook (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) had a career day with 18 points and 17 rebounds to propel West Chester past PSAC rival Kutztown, 76-52, Saturday afternoon inside Hollinger Field House. Steele-Hook's 17 rebounds were the most in West Chester history since 1997, when Gina Tophoney recorded 19 against Mansfield. In the opening minutes, the Golden Rams jumped out to an early 8-4 lead in the contest. Afterward, West Chester gained all momentum by going on a 9-0 run to extend the score to 17-4 at the 10-minute mark. Kutztown closed the gap, only trailing by nine at the half. However the Golden Rams' second half adjustments led them to a 17-point lead within the first three minutes to secure the victory. West Chester's Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) reached double-digits for the fourth consecutive game, contributing 13 points and five boards for the Golden Rams. The duo of Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) and Serifat Junaid (Chesilhurst, N.J./Camden Catholic) controlled the glass in addition to Steele-Hook. Each player registered 10 points and eight rebounds. West Chester (4-0, 2-0 PSAC) constantly attacked the rim, outscoring Kutztown by 22 points in the paint. The 20+ margin of victory over Kutztown was the most since 2004, when the Golden Rams defeated the Golden Bears, 79-49, in the PSAC Championships. West Chester concludes its homestand with a non-league matchup against Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. Afterward, the Golden Rams begin a four-game road-trip, starting on Dec. 3 when they take on PSAC rival Lock Haven.
