West Chester Concludes Homestand with Win over Goldey-Beacom
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester concluded its five-game homestand in impressive fashion, defeating Goldey-Beacom, 77-55, in a non-league women's basketball game Tuesday night inside Hollinger Field House. West Chester (5-0) led the entire game, jumping on the Lightning early, resulting in a 41-21 lead at the half. Goldey-Beacom (0-4) did not score until the 13:03 mark and then went another 4:45 without a point following a desperation 3-pointer from center Britani Bryson as the shot clock expired. By the time GBC's Marisa Howard hit a jumper at the 8:18 mark, West Chester had built a 25-5 lead. The Golden Rams' capitalized on Goldey-Beacom's 21 turnovers, turning them into 30 points in the contest. In addition, West Chester's stifling defense held Goldey-Beacom to a 34.5 percent shooting percentage. Offensively, West Chester's Dallas Ely (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) contributed a team-best 14 points, while also grabbing eight rebounds. Reaching double-digits for the fifth consecutive game was junior Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West), registering 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists in 21 minutes of action. The interior presence helped the Golden Rams secure the victory, outscoring the Lightning by 18 points in the paint. Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) pounded the glass, totaling 11 points and snagging six rebounds. Her teammate Mariah Powell (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) added 11 points and four boards as well. The victory was an overall team effort, as every member on the squad saw action in the contest. West Chester will look to carry its momentum on the road, beginning a four-game road-trip on Wednesday, December 3 when the Golden Rams take on PSAC rival Lock Haven at 5:30 p.m.
