Wolfe Lifts Golden Rams in Season Opener
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - So., Forward Linzi Wolfe (Quakertown, Pa. / Quakertown) delivered the game-winning goal in double overtime to propel West Chester past Bloomsburg, 2-1, inside Rockwell Field Thursday afternoon. Three minutes into double overtime, senior Carly Henry (Perkasie, Pa. / Pennridge) found Wolfe to allow the Golden Rams (1-0-0, 1-0-0 PSAC) to notch their first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory of the season. However, Bloomsburg (0-1-0, 0-1-0 PSAC) got on the scoreboard first with a goal in the second period. Erin Bielski picked up her first goal of the season with several players scrambling in front of the net. Assisting Bielski on the play were Allie Barber and Allie Camp. Nearly five minutes later, the Golden Rams answered as Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa. / Whitehall) setup fellow senior Scarlett Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa. / Archbishop Ryan) to even the game at one apiece. West Chester had several opportunities to find the back of the net throughout the match. The Golden Rams outshot the Huskies, 23-10, hitting the post four times. Bloomsburg's goalkeeper Devon Haviland made four saves in the match, while allowing a pair of goals. Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa. / Downingtown East) picks up the win as goalkeeper for the Golden Rams in the season opener, after recording three saves in 102 minutes of action. West Chester is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Pitt-Johnstown for another PSAC matchup beginning at 1 p.m.
