West Chester Downs Pitt-Johnstown
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Golden Rams blanked Pitt-Johnstown 5-0, to achieve their second consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon.
Five different players were able to find the back of the net for West Chester (2-0-0, 2-0-0 PSAC) in the contest.
Senior co-captain Erica Hansen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) got the Golden Rams on the scoreboard first, hitting the top left corner off of a cross by Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall).
Recording her first collegiate goal was midfielder Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley).
Next, the Golden Rams capitalized on a corner kick where Lexi Brown (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) headed the ball into the back of the next.
Kaitlyn McFadden (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) posted her first goal of the season with a shot coming from the top of the box.
Lastly, West Chester’s Scarlett Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) found an open Gabrielle Termini (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) to record their fifth goal.
Sophomore Nikki Caffey (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) contributed as well, picking up a pair of assists in the match.
In goal, Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) gets the win for the Golden Rams after playing 62 minutes.
Junior McKenna Mullin (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) saw action in-between the pipes as well for 27 minutes to help secure the shutout.
Pitt-Johnstown’s Leigh Appolonia made eight saves, while surrendering five goals in 90 minutes of action.
West Chester held Pitt-Johnstown’s attack in check by only allowing two shots.
The Golden Rams continue conference play as they host Mercyhurst on Friday, September 9th inside Rockwell Field at 3:30 p.m.
