West Chester goes Unbeaten in Georgian Court Tournament
Lakewood, N.J. – The Golden Rams remain undefeated (9-0) after capturing a pair of wins against Southern New Hampshire and Georgian Court University at the Georgian Court Tournament on Saturday. In the morning, West Chester defeated Southern New Hampshire in three straight 25-17, 25-23, and 25-22. Freshman Rachel Robb (Blackwood, N.J./Paul VI) registered eight kills in the match to help West Chester secure the victory. As the defensive specialist, Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa. / Southern Lehigh) recorded 20 digs for the Golden Rams. Combined, Yates accumulated 36 digs in the pair of matches. Coach Kassie Bellaver's squad continued their stellar play against Georgian Court to remain unbeaten. The Golden Rams once again won in three straight 25-14, 25-20, and 25-18. Outside hitter Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the team with 12 kills in the match. A trio of Golden Rams contributed six kills in the win, including Abbie Dischert (Wilmington, Del./Concord), Allie Duffy (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle), and Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa. / Pope John Paul II). Sophomore Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) managed 30 assists against Georgian Court, while dishing out a total of 43 assists between both matches. Overall, the Golden Rams won all four of their matches in the Georgian Court Tournament that began on Friday. West Chester takes on Georgian Court University once again, but this time it will be in Hollinger Fieldhouse on Tuesday, September 13th at 7 p.m.
