Volleyball Falls to Pace
Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Golden Rams dropped their first game of the season in a tough one, losing to Pace University in the fifth set by a score of 9-15. The match continued to go back-and-forth with the final scores in the contest being 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25, and 9-15. Pace took control of the fifth set, scoring the first three points. West Chester would answer, but trailed the entire set. The Golden Rams managed to get the score to 5-6, but Pace would later pull away. Sophomre setter Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) posted 50 assists in addition to 19 digs in the match. Outside hitter Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) registered a team-high 17 kills, while sophomore Allie Duffy (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) contributed 14 kills for the Golden Rams. Defensive specialist Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) managed 39 digs. Freshman Emily Ahern (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) provided 19 digs as well for West Chester. The Golden Rams head to Greensburg, Pennsylvania next for a conference matchup with Seton Hill University on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
