No. 4 Millersville Downs No. 10 West Chester

Millersville, Pa. – No. 10 West Chester dropped a tough one against No. 4 Millersville, 3-1, on Tuesday afternoon. Millersville struck first with Margaret Thorwart giving the Marauders an early lead less than minutes into the game. West Chester answered at the 14:45 mark with sophomore Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) tying it up off of a rebound. Earning the assist on the play was junior Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro). The Marauders wasted little time as Thorwart knocked in her second goal of the first-half four minutes later. Freshman Erica Tarsi would tack on another goal to increase Millersville's lead to 3-1 in the second-half. Millersville's Samantha Rumler was stellar in the cage, propelling them to the victory. Rumler made seven saves, while also allowing one goal. The Golden Rams held a 16-9 advantage in shots over Millersville in the contest. West Chester's goalkeeper Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) totaled four saves, while surrendering three goals in 70 minutes of play. The Golden Rams will look to bounce back as they return home for a conference matchup with Slippery Rock University on Saturday, September 24th at 1 p.m.
