West Chester’s quarterback Andrew Derr (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin) now owns several single-game records for his efforts against Edinboro on Saturday. The junior completed 39 of 70 passes for 559 yards, which are all program records. Derr managed to provide four passing touchdowns as well for the Golden Rams. His 70 attempts shattered Dave McDonalds’ 57 attempts back in 1994 against Millersville. Derr’s 39 completions and 559 yards surpassed Mike Mitros in both categories, which stood for 18 years. Additionally, the signal caller helped lead the squad to a school record 563 yards of total offense. Despite his record setting performance, the Golden Rams fell to the Fighting Scots, 54-51. West Chester's 108 plays for 758 yards are both new school records as well.
Senior Claire Uhle (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) reached the semifinals of the 2016 ITA Atlantic Regionals held at the Pennbriar Racquet Club over the weekend. Uhle earned a first round bye in singles and advanced past the second round with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 score over Slippery Rock's Kylee Woodman. She followed that up on Sunday with a victory over her opponent from Mercyhurst, 6-3, 6-0. In the semifinal match, Uhle would drop a tough one to her Indiana (Pa.) opponent, 6-3, 6-4. For the doubles tournament, Uhle teamed up with fellow senior Maddy Shaak (Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County). The pair began the day as the three seed. Taylor Daskivich shot a three-over-par 75 in the first round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic at the Lake Shore Country Club this weekend. The senior’s first-round score of 77 placed her third overall in a field of over 120 golfers. Daskivich’s 77 served as her career-low, until the opening round of the Michael Corbett Fall Classic last Sunday. Lightening caused the season-opening Evann Parker Memorial Tournament to be cancelled after the completion of 15 holes. Her performance of a 75 has positioned her into third place individually heading into Monday's final round. She is only four strokes off the leader.
Freshman Brett Miller registered his first collegiate goal to lift West Chester past Mercyhurst in double overtime Friday afternoon. Miller’s game winner occurred at the 4:32 mark as the Golden Rams captured the win over the Lakers. Additionally, Miller had a shot on goal against Gannon on Saturday.
