Women’s Cross Country Earns 7th at Paul Short Invitational
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Diana Dunn (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) continues to impress as West Chester captured seventh place in the women's white 6K event at the Paul Short Run event on Saturday afternoon. Dunn finished in 11th place at the event at a time of 22 minutes and 38 seconds. For the fourth consecutive week, Dunn posted a personal-best time to lead the Golden Rams' effort.
Teammate Amanda Kodis (Garnet Valley, Pa. / Garnet Valley) crossed the finish line at 23:16, which was good enough to earn 21st, shaving 1:24 off her time from a year ago and moving up 59 places. Her time is the seventh fastest at WCU in the Paul Short Run since 2004. Fellow sophomore Julia Del Grosso (Springfield, Pa. / Cardinal O'Hara) came in at 23:51 for 51st, while Alie Smith (Shippensburg, Pa. / Big Spring) was 88th in 24:35. A trio of freshman came in next for West Chester with Tara McLaughlin (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) finishing at 24:40 for 98th place.She ran her third consecutive personal best in as many races for the Golden Rams. Erica O'Connor (Wallingford, Pa. / Strath Haven) completed the event in 103rd in 24:45. That effort was a personal best by 1:45, constituting her best college race to date. Courtney Catlin (Pennsville, N.J. / Pennsville Memorial) crossed one second later for 106th. "I can't say enough positive things about these young ladies," Comstock mentioned afterwards. "They really seem to be enjoying the whole process. The group just keeps getting a little bit better every week. Today our 5th runner, Tara Mclaughlin was just as fast as our No. 2 runner was at this meet last year. This is a very exciting time for the program." The Golden Rams will head to Slippery Rock next Saturday for the Mack Cooper Invitational at 10 a.m.
