Field Hockey Drops to No. 2 Shippensburg, 3-1
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 2 Shippensburg Raiders registered three unanswered goals to defeat West Chester, 3-1, inside Robb Sports Complex Tuesday afternoon. Senior midfielder Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) gave West Chester an early 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the match. Setting up Paustian for the goal was Mackenzie Mlkvy (Berlin, N.J./Eastern), who registered her first collegiate point of her career on the play. Shippensburg responded with a pair of unanswered goals to take a 2-1 advantage at halftime. The Raiders carried that momentum into the second half with Shippensburg's Cassie Rawa tallying her second goal of the match at the 38:42 mark. West Chester's senior goalkeeper Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) continued her streak of at least 10 saves in the last three matches. In the loss, Krause managed 10 saves while surrendering three goals in 70 minutes of play. Shippensburg (11-1, 4-0 PSAC) outshot West Chester (5-6, 2-2 PSAC) 18-7 in the contest. The Golden Rams travel to Kutztown on Saturday, October 8th for another PSAC conference matchup beginning at 1 p.m.
