Lutz Named PSAC Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University's outside hitter Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) athlete of the week for the Southeastern Division, which was announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon. This marks the first time a Golden Rams volleyball player has been awarded the PSAC athlete of the week since Lexi Kegerise back in 2011. Lutz was tremendous in her efforts, helping West Chester finish with a 3-1 record this week, including the program's first victory over Clarion University. In the match-up with Clarion, Lutz manufactured 10 kills and a .280 hitting percentage, sweeping Clarion 3-0. The other pair of victories came against Caldwell University by a score of 3-1 while also sweeping Goldey-Beacom, 3-0. West Chester took Indiana (Pa.) to the limit, eventually falling in the fifth set, 19-17, for its only loss of the week. In the four matches this week, Lutz totaled 42 kills for a 3.00 kill per set percentage and .246 hitting percentage. The junior also provided 15 digs for a 1.07 digs per set percentage. She chipped in six aces and three blocks as well for the Golden Rams. This is the first time in Lutz's career that she has earned the honor.
