Men’s Soccer Blanks Holy Family, 7-0
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Five different goal scorers helped propel the Golden Rams past Holy Family in non-league action, 7-0, inside Rockwell Field Monday afternoon. West Chester improves to (6-3-2, 4-1-1 PSAC) on the season off the shutout victory. Junior midfielder Colin Hester (Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) registered a pair of goals for the Golden Rams, including the first goal coming less than two minutes into the match. The junior was able to convert off of a Holy Family turnover, resulting in a shot into the far left side of the net. West Chester's second goal of the first half came courtesy of a corner kick, which was headed in by sophomore midfielder Andrew Slater (Hanover, Pa. / South West) for his first goal of the season. Picking up the assist on the way was fellow midfielder Brett Miller (Washington Crossing, Pa. / Council Rock North). With 22 seconds before the half, West Chester would tack on one more goal by sophomore forward Jason Pixley (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central). Teammate Brett Glasco (West Chester, Pa. / Rustin) took a shot from 24 yards out that hit the crossbar. Pixley collected the rebound and found the back of the net to make it 3-0 at the half. An own-goal would occur to begin the second half to increase the lead. Hester chipped in his second of the game for his fourth point in the 72nd minute with an assist going to junior forward Giovanni Mowrey (Bethlehem, Pa. / Notre Dame Green Pond). Two minutes later Mowrey would tally a goal himself with freshman forward Connor Gwin (Kingsville, MD. / Perry Hall) being credited with an assist for his first collegiate point. Adding the last goal of the afternoon was junior forward Max Adarkwah (Accra, Ghana / Phelps School (Pa.)), who capitalized from the top of the box. Pixley recorded the assist, giving him his third point of the match. Sophomore goalkeeper James Wood (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) registered two saves in 90 minutes of action for his fourth shutout of the season. West Chester held a 14-5 advantage in shots over Holy Family. The Golden Rams continue their four game home stand inside Rockwell Field on Wednesday, October 5th with a non-league match-up with Goldey-Beacom at 3 p.m.
