Women’s Rugby Tops Sacred Heart
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - West Chester University's women's rugby continues to be clicking on all cylinders with a 47-7 victory over hosting Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon.
Senior Aubrey Carol (Denver, Pa / Garden Spot) put West Chester ahead early in this one with a try at the six minute mark.
The Golden Rams (4-0) from that point would grasp momentum and never trail in the match.
Contributing a pair of tries in the first half to extend the lead was senior Miranda Northcott (Coatesville, Pa. / Coastesville).
West Chester's Adriana Zeiders (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield High School) tacked on another try to push the score to 20-0 at the half.
Sacred Heart provided a try and conversion to cut the deficit to 20-7 in the 61st minute.
The Golden Rams would go on to register 27 unanswered points to conclude the match.
Freshman Haley Spangler (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) contributed a pair of tries, while Carol added another try for her second of the afternoon.
Zeiders accumulated two more tries in the second half , finishing the day as the leading scorer for the Golden Rams with a total of three tries.
West Chester returns to action tomorrow, October 9th as they head to Massachusetts for a matchup with American International College at noon.
