Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Lock Haven, 3-0
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – After dropping a heartbreaker the night before, the Golden Rams bounced back this afternoon by sweeping Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Lock Haven, 3-0, inside Hollinger Field House. West Chester (14-5, 2-4 PSAC) took the match by scores of 25-18, 25-10, and 25-11. Outside hitter Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) continued her strong play after being named PSAC and ECAC Division II athlete of the week a week ago, leading the squad with 11 kills. Sophomore setter Jillian Grammer (Center Valley, Pa. /Southern Lehigh) contributed 33 assists and 10 digs for the Golden Rams. This marks her second consecutive match with a double-double. Fellow sophomore Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa. /Southern Lehigh) managed 16 digs during the match as the libero. Chipping in with seven kills on the afternoon was freshman Peighton Wright (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley). West Chester manufactured a .252 hitting percentage, while Lock Haven only produced a .067 percentage. The Golden Rams begin a five game road trip, beginning with a conference matchup with Cheyney University on Tuesday, October 11th at 7 p.m.
