LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University's sophomore linebacker Steven Denby (Philadelphia, Pa. / Imhotep Charter) posted a career-high 11 tackles in a 31-15 victory over Shippensburg on Saturday to earn Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) defensive athlete of the week honors.

Denby was all over the field in his first career start, leading the squad with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops.

The sophomore also chipped in two tackles for a loss in addition to a sack.

Denby made the start in place of injured middle linebacker and senior co-captain Ralph Reeves.

West Chester's defense held Shippensburg's offense to just 78 yards in the first half as the Golden Rams built a 31-0 lead. Overall, Denby and company managed to limit the Raiders to 253 yards of total offense on Saturday.

This marks Denby's first PSAC award of his career. Additionally, this is West Chester's first honor in 2016 on the defensive side of the ball.
