Rapposelli’s Goal Lifts WCU past East Stroudsburg, 2-1 2OT
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester's sophomore midfielder Tyler Rapposelli (Reading, Pa. /Fleetwood) registered the game winning goal to lift the Golden Rams over visiting PSAC opponent East Stroudsburg, 2-1, in the double overtime affair Tuesday afternoon. Junior forward Giovanni Mowrey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame Green Pond) found an open Rapposelli racing down the far side of the field to pull out the victory for the Golden Rams (8-3-2, 5-1-1 PSAC). However, it was East Stroudsburg who struck first in the match with Irvin Zuzic heading the ball past goalkeeper James Wood (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) to get on the scoreboard. The Warriors held onto that 1-0 lead, until the 66:33 mark in the second half. Off of a throw in, Mowrey was able to knock in the goal with a mad scramble infront of the net. Mowrey ended with three points for his efforts this afternoon. Fellow junior Brett Glasco (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) was credited with the assist on the play as Mowrey scored on the rebound. Gridlocked at one apiece, the pair of squads would have their opportunites as East Stroudsburg held a 16-12 advantage in shots. Rapposelli's second goal of the season proved to be the diference in this PSAC matchup. In net, West Chester's Wood posted five saves in 104 minutes of action while surrendering the lone goal to earn the victory.
