Women’s Volleyball Drops to Millersville, 3-2
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The match went down to the wire, but Millersville was able to escape with a 3-2 victory over West Chester in a well-played conference match inside Pucillo Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Golden Rams (15-7, 3-6 PSAC) went back-and-forth with the Marauders (7-12, 4-5 PSAC) as Millersville prevailed in the fifth set. West Chester dropped the match by the final scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 24-26, and 13-15. Sophomore setter Jillian Grammer (Centre Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) registered another double-double with 63 assists and 14 digs. West Chester's Karleigh Lutz (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) manufactured a team-high 19 kills and added 8 digs, while her teammate Victoria Cruciani (Phoenixville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) produced 17 kills for the Golden Rams. Leading the squad with 37 digs on the afternoon was Nicki Yates (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh). Emily Ahern (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) chipped in 14 digs as well. The hitting percentages were nearly identical with West Chester achieving a .188 percentage, while Millersville obtained .183. The Golden Rams did manage to hold an 11-5 advantage in team blocks. West Chester head to Kutztown University on Friday, October 21st for another PSAC matchup beginning at 7 p.m.
