Women’s Soccer Prevails on Senior Day, 1-0

WEST CHESTER, Pa. –West Chester's senior midfielder Erica Hansen (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East) provided the only goal of the match, which proved to be enough as West Chester held on to defeat PSAC opponent Clarion, 1-0, Saturday afternoon. West Chester remains undefeated (15-0-0, 15-0-0 PSAC) in their 2016 campaign. Additionally, before the game head coach Betty Ann Kempf-Townsley honored her 11 seniors on the squad. Hansen rocketed a shot into the upper right-hand corner from the top of the box at the 33:02 mark to give the Golden Rams the lead. Setting up Hansen on the play was freshman forward Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley). From that point on, the defense shutdown Clarion's attack by not allowing a shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa/Downingtown East) notched the shutout victory in goal, breaking the school's all-time mark with 33 career shutouts. The previous record of 32 was held by Lyndsie Bernardini (2009-10). The Golden Rams have a pair games remaining on their schedule, beginning with a home game on Monday against Salem International in a non-conference match starting at 2 p.m. Additional Information: West Chester last went undefeated in the regular-season back in 2006.
