Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten, Defeating Salem International
West Chester, Pa. – West Chester remains undefeated after beating Salem International, 11-0, in a non-league contest Monday afternoon inside Rockwell Field. There were 12 different members of West Chester's squad who found their way into the scoresheet this afternoon. Overall, the Golden Rams' (16-0-0, 15-0-0 PSAC) accumulated 11 first half goals, controlling the match from the start. With the victory today, West Chester is only one win short of going undefeated in the regular season for the first time since 2006. Midfielder Cynthia Hagerty (Hockessin, Del./Alexis I. du Pont) contributed three points, earning her first goal of the season 49 seconds into the match. Additionally, she managed to have an assist to fellow senior Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall). Parvel found the back of the net twice at the 4:28 and 6:17 marks for her sixth and seventh goals of the season. Shortly after, the Golden Rams' Kaitlyn McNamara (West Nyack, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) registered her first goal of the season. Setting up McNamara on the play for her first collegiate assist was Brooke Morgan (West Chester, Pa./Rustin). West Chester's Julianne Minutillo (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and Lexi Brown (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) provided goals as well to increase the lead early into the match. Midfielder Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) notched her fifth goal of the season at 15:53. Freshman Paige Jones (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) produced a goal at 20:42, while sophomore Linzi Wolfe (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) logged the assist. Two minutes later, Jones returned the favor by finding Wolfe to increase West Chester's lead. Forward Tayler Jamison (Honey Brook, Pa./Twin Valley) earned a goal, notching her second of the season. Rounding out the scoring this afternoon was Lauren Benner (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) with Madison Baxter (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) being credited with her first collegiate assist. The Golden Rams utilized three different goalkeepers in the match to preserve the shutout victory. Senior Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) received the start, then fellow teammate Madi Mitchell (Wall Twp., N.J./Wall) saw action for 30 minutes in-between the pipes. Freshman Regan Allsop (Orefield,Pa./Parkland) finished out the rest of the match for 30 minutes, while also recording her first career save. Head coach Betty Ann Kempf Townsley earned her 299th all-time win in her coaching career with the victory this afternoon. The Golden Rams conclude their 2016 campaign with a trip out to Greensburg, Pennsylvania to take on Seton Hill on Saturday, October 29th at 1 p.m.
