Toppi’s Hat Trick Lifts WCU Past Seton Hill, 4-0
GREENSBURG, Pa. – West Chester's junior forward Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) provided a hat trick for the Golden Rams, defeating host Seton Hill, 4-0, Saturday morning. The No. 9 Golden Rams (12-6, 8-2 PSAC) are riding a seven game winning streak after the PSAC victory in the regular season finale. West Chester's Toppi continues to lead the offensive attack, making this the third consecutive season that Toppi has accomplished at least 22 goals in a season. It is also the third time in Toppi's career that she has registered three goals in a match. The junior got the Golden Rams on the scoreboard first at the 8:19 mark in the first half with the assist being credited to Katie Thompson (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills). Freshman Maya Gulliksen (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) extended the lead to 2-0 by blasting a shot past Seton Hill's goalkeeper Jane Eberhardt. It is her fifth point of the week, previously recording a goal and assist over Millersville. West Chester's sophomore Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J. / Washington Twp.) tied a Division II program record with three assists in the contest against Seton Hill. Hatch ties Mary Spisak (2015) and Kristinia Scherrer (2014) for the most assists in a match for the Golden Rams. The midfielder tallied a pair of assists that resulted in Toppi's goals, while also setting up Gulliksen. The last pair of goals for Toppi occurred in the second half with her first coming off a deflection. Afterwards, the junior forward tallied her 22nd goal in the 48th minute by tipping it over the goalkeeper. Senior goalkeeper Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) managed to provide the shutout, making one save in the victory. The Golden Rams are currently on a seven game winning streak heading into the PSAC quarterfinals that will occur on Tuesday, November 1st.
