Women’s Rugby Prevails on Senior Day over Molloy College
WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Women's rugby concluded their 2016 campaign with their second victory of the season against Molloy College on senior day, 93-10, Saturday morning. Senior Lizzy Groff (Glenmoore, Pa. / Downingtown East) provided the first try of the match after being honored on senior day at the 6:50 mark. West Chester's freshman flyhalf Haley Spangler (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg) extended the lead to 11-0 nearly two minutes later. Senior Aubrey Carol (Denver, Pa / Garden Spot) was able to capitalize with a pair of trys as well for the Golden Rams. Tacking on three trys was wing Sophia Schwab (Oakland, Md. / Southern Garrett). Schwab ranks in the top four in terms of all-time scoring in program history for the Golden Rams. She has amassed 45 trys for 311 points in her stellar career. Additionally, Katie Haertter (West Chester, Pa. / West Chester East) scored her seventh and eighth career try of her career. Junior Aalea Ray (Landisville, Pa. / Hempfield) converted two trys, including one penalty try for the Golden Rams in the second half. Plowing her way for her first try of the contest at 50:15 was senior co-captain Adriana Zeiders (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield). One minute later the senior would provide her second of the morning. West Chester's Mikayla Hargett (Susquenna, Pa / Susquenna Community) and Emily Orris (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown) chipped in with trys too for the Golden Rams. Molloy managed to get their first try of the match at the 58th minute and their second in the 80th minute. The Golden Rams finished with a 6-3 record overall. West Chester will return to action in the spring, beginning with the Crimson 7's Tournament held in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
