Women's Soccer Finishes Unbeaten in 2016 Regular Season

GREENSBURG, Pa. The West Chester Golden Rams finished the regular season undefeated with a 1-0 victory over the Seton Hill Griffins this afternoon on Dick's Sporting Goods Field. It marks the first undefeated regular season for the Golden Rams since 2006. It was the 300th career victory for West Chester's head coach Betty Ann Kempf Townsley. In a decade at the helm, she has amassed an overall (157-34-22) record. The Golden Rams (17-0-0, 16-0-0 PSAC) were kept off the scoreboard until late in the contest when senior midfielder Haley Mangiaruga(North Wales, Pa./North Penn) scored at 84:32. It was her fourth goal of the season. She was assisted on the play by Katie Huber {Hatfield, Pa./North Penn). Senior Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingrown East) recorded the win in-between the pipes. It was her seventh shutout of the season. She now has 59 career victories and 34 shutouts, which are both school records. The Golden Rams outshot the Griffins 12-2 in the game and had the advantage in corners 4-1. Srolis made one save while Griffins' goalkeeper Jessica Neill stopped five shots. West Chester, who outscored opponents 52-5 this season now awaits the PSAC playoffs which starts on Tuesday inside Rockwell Field.
