Women's Swimming & Diving Sinks Bloomsburg, 181-81

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Golden Rams' swimming and diving squad rebounded this week by defeating host Bloomsburg, 181-81, Saturday afternoon. Senior Tess Hayward (Elizabethtown, Pa. / Elizabethtown) racked up pair of first-place finishes, including the 200 and 500 freestyle. Hayward won the 200 in one minute, 56.57 seconds, while capturing the 500 in a time of 5 minutes, and 12.57 seconds. She also placed second in the 50 freestyle for the Golden Rams. West Chester's sophomore Megan Burns (Wallingford, Pa. / Strath Haven) provided a win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.63 seconds. The sophomore earned second in the 200 individual medley too. In terms of the butterfly, Megan Keithly (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) excelled by winning the 200 and 100. Her 200 butterfly finished with a time of two minutes, 11.85 seconds and her 100 arrived at 58.95 seconds. Fellow freshman Mikaela Lantz (Reading, Pa. / 21st Century Cyber) provided a victory in the 50 freestyle in 24.69 seconds. Sydney Wareham (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) won the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.04 seconds. Sophomore Emelie Johansson managed to produce the win in the 200 individual medley with a final time of two minutes, 13.26 seconds. Overall, the Golden Rams claimed first, second, and third in the 200 individual medley. In the 200 medley relay, West Chester took home first and second place. The first-place time of one minute, 49.49 seconds was courtesy of Barbara Schmele (Hatboro, Pa. / Hatboro-Horsham), Johansson, Keithly, and Lantz. West Chester returns home in the North Pool inside Hollinger Field House for a diving only meet against Rowan University on Saturday, November 5th at 1 p.m.
