Men’s Cross Country Claims 15th at NCAA Regionals in Slippery Rock
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – West Chester's men's cross country placed 15th at the NCAA Division II Regional Championship on Saturday morning at Slippery Rock University. Senior Andrew Dombrowiecki (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Twp.) crossed the finish line first for the Golden Rams in the 10k event, placing 43rd with an official time of 35 minutes and 9 seconds. He improved his 10th fastest 10k time all-time for West Chester runners at Copper's Lake. He also dropped 24 spots from last year's regional meet. Fellow senior Nick Angelina (Media, Pa./Penncrest) claimed 51st, coming in 18 seconds after Dombrowiecki. Angelina maintained a 5:43 pace for West Chester. Next for the Golden Rams were four separate sophomores. Greg Grunwald (Easton, Pa./Easton) managed to obtain 80th in 36 minutes and 28 seconds. Eric Savarese (Oley, Pa./Oley Valley) ran a 36:37 time, while finishing 83rd. West Chester's Bobby Rimkis (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) captured 88th in 36:58 and Eric Chapman (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) ended up 98th with a final time of 37:26. Overall, the Golden Rams registered 345 points in the NCAA regional. This concludes the 2016 campaign for men's cross country.
