Women’s Basketball Welcomes Gannon and Clarion This Weekend
WEST CHESTER, Pa. –Women's basketball continues their home stand inside Hollinger Field House this weekend as they begin conference play against Gannon and Clarion University. West Chester (0-2) dropped its first pair of games this season in the Carol Eckman Classic, which was hosted by the Golden Rams. Both games were considered non-league opponents, opening up with a tough Glenville State squad who defeated the Golden Rams, 112-85. Despite the loss, Madison Torresin (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) shined as she contributed a career high 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Torresin registered her second consecutive double-double against Wheeling Jesuit the following day. The junior posted 10 points and 11 rebounds, but the Golden Rams fell short as they dropped their second game of the season by a final score of 80-63. Last weekend's Carol Eckman Tournament featured one of the most, if not the most, competitive teams in its 31-year history. The Golden Rams will look to bounce back with a very young roster as they begin PSAC play. Against Gannon, the squad is 1-4 all-time dating back to 2014-2015. West Chester is 10-10 all-time against Clarion, last facing them in the 2014-15 season as well. Saturday marks the beginning of conference play in addition to Parent's Day against Gannon. The following day is a matchup against Clarion. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. for both matches in Hollinger Field House.
