Men’s Basketball Cruises To Second Win In As Many Days
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester University's men's basketball team notched its second conference victory of the season this afternoon by defeating Clarion, 92-67, inside Hollinger Field House. Early on in the contest, the Golden Rams (2-2, 2-0 PSAC) went on a 12-0 run in a span of four minutes to give the hosts a 20-4 lead. Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa./Penn Wood) matched a season-high 24 points, knocking down five shots from behind the arc for a 38.5 percentage (5-for-13). In total, West Chester hit 11 of 28 shots from downtown for a 39.3 percentage. Jackson has now eclipsed 20 points in all three of the games in which he has appeared. Clarion (1-4, 0-2 PSAC) tried to claw its way back in, but West Chester ultimately prevailed. A total of five players ended in double-figures for the Golden Rams. Sophomore Jackson Hyland (Avondale, Pa./Kennett) registered 16 points to along with nine rebounds. The forward was 5-for-7 from the field in addition to hitting a three ball. Thomas White (Chester, Pa./Penn Wood) controlled the paint for the Golden Rams, adding 12 points and nine rebounds in the win. West Chester's Matt Penecale (Jenkintown, Pa./Abington) provided 11 points, while also leading the squad in assists by dishing out six. Teammate Ryan Skovranko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Lincoln Park Charter) also produced 10 points. West Chester continues its home stand against non-league opponent Bowie State University on Saturday, November 26 with tip-off at 3 p.m.
