Torresin Named PSAC East Co-Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester's junior forward Madison Torresin (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) scored PSAC East co-athlete of the week honors for the first time this season, which was announced by the same organization this afternoon. In a pair of games this weekend, the junior led the squad in scoring with 33 combined points in addition to grabbing 18 rebounds and seven steals. Torresin registered the go-ahead bucket in the final 34 seconds to help the Golden Rams secure their first victory of the season against Gannon on Saturday. In the conference victory, the junior provided 16 points, six rebounds, and four steals. The forward helped the Golden Rams defeat the Golden Knights for the second time in program history, breaking a four-game skid in the process. The following day against Clarion, the forward produced 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 steals for her third double-double of the season. She is the Golden Rams' leading scorer early in the season, averaging 17.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest. Torresin was named co-athlete of the week with East Stroudsburg's Imani Brown. This marks Torresin's first honor of her career, while also being the first award in the 2016-17 campaign for women's basketball.
