Men’s Track & Field Kicks off Season in Diplomat Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – West Chester's men's track and field opened up its 2016-17 season in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at the Diplomat Open on Saturday. In the 60-meter dash, a trio of Golden Rams earned PSAC qualifying marks including Ryan Johnson, Derrick Clement, and Martin Latimore. Johnson claimed second place with a score of 6.95. Clement on the other hand came in eighth at 7.05, while Latimore produced a time of 7.19. For the weight throw, Nick Robinson (Aston, Pa. / Tatnall) placed fifth with a throw of 46 feet and 11 inches. In result, he reached a PSAC qualifying mark. Fellow freshman Bryce Sadler (Marietta, Pa. / Donegal) tallied 44 feet and four inches for seventh place. In the shot put, Salder came away third at 46' 7 ¼ " and gathered a PSAC qualifying nod. Robinson was fifth in the event, throwing 44 foot, 6 ¾ inches. West Chester's Ryan Foran (South Williamsport, Pa / South Williamsport) claimed ninth in the pole vault at 12 feet, 5 ½ inches. Sophomore D'Andrew Gursay (Levittown, Pa. / Conwell-Egan) was slated fourth in the long jump at 21' 3 ½". The sophomore also reached PSAC qualifying marks. For the men's 800 meter run, sophomore Colin McClusick (New Hope, Pa. / New Hope-Solebury) finished third with a final time of 1:59.24. Finishing right behind McClusick with a time of 1:59.80 was Jim McDaid. Both were good enough for a PSAC qualifying mark. Junior Ryan Heimback (Collegeville, Pa / Perkiomen Valley) landed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.61 and Foran came in sixth with 8.93. The duo met PSAC qualifying standards. With a time of 51.58, Ghassan Dix (Upper Darby, Pa / Upper Darby) produced third place in the 400-meter dash and received a PSAC qualifying mark. Shawn Young (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks West) was sixth in 52.51, whereas teammates Ray Harris (53.46) and McCormick (54.35) were 12th and 16th. For the 200-meter dash, Clement snagged fourth and a PSAC qualifying mark with a time of 23.07. Johnson on the other hand provided seventh at 23.35 and Latimore with 23.82 for tenth. In the 4x400 meter relay, the Golden Rams "A" and "B" squads captured second and third place in the event. The "B" team finished second with a 3 minute, 29.91 second performance, which was consisted of Kyle McCormick, McDaid, Harris, and Latimore. Following in third was the "A" squad four seconds later including Dix, Young, Johnson, and McClusick. The Golden Rams head to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania next for the Fast Times Before Finals inside Rauch Field House on next Friday, December 9th.
