Diana Dunn Named PSAC Cross Country Female Freshman of the Year
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – -Fr., runner Diana Dunn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) was officially named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Female Freshman of the Year, which was announced by that same organization Thursday afternoon. The Media, Pa., native claimed the honor as the coaches of the conference-member schools voted. Dunn adds this award to her already action-packed freshman campaign that includes all-region honors for NCAA Division II Cross Country. She is the first West Chester female freshman to be so honored by the conference since Amanda Eisman in 2012. In the NCAA Division II Regional Championship, Dunn captured a final time of 23 minutes and 20 seconds to register seventh place in the 6k event. Dunn's mark was the fastest freshman by 20 seconds and 58 seconds ahead of the third best freshman. She was the first individual non-qualifier for nationals. At the 2016 PSAC Championships, the freshman placed 15th with a time of 23 minutes, 22.1 seconds. Earlier in the season at the Division II/III Challenge, Dunn provided the second-best freshman time by a PSAC runner, crossing the line in 24 minutes, 4.6 seconds. It was also the fastest time on this course by a West Chester runner in 12 years.
