Mowrey And Greiss Land Academic All-Area Team Honors
ASTON, Pa. – West Chester University landed two men's soccer players on the 2016 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Soccer Team, which was announced by PHILLY-SIDA Tuesday afternoon. Giovanny Mowrey (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame Green Pond) and Connor Greiss (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) were two of the 11 selected as the team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Mowrey carries a 3.93 cumulative grade-point average in Communication Studies as a junior. Additionally, he scored the PSAC Champion Scholar award this season. On the field, the Golden Rams' midfielder has scored three goals and assisted on two others for a total of eight points in West Chester's 19 games. The junior also registered a goal and the game-winning assist to defeat East Stroudsburg, 2-1, in double overtime in 2016. Greiss on the other hand maintained a 3.90 GPA in Accounting & Finance as a senior defender for the Golden Rams. He has appeared in 15 of West Chester's 19 games and is a big reason West Chester boasts the second-ranked defense in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The pair of players also claimed honors on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 squad as well.
