Toppi, Paustian, & Kusakavitch Named Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-Americans
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Three different Golden Rams in Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro), Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), and Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) were selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II All-America Team on Monday afternoon. The announcement was made by that same organization on Monday. West Chester claimed three of the 32 available spots on the All-America team. Toppi and Paustian scored first-team honors while Kusakavitch was slated on the second-team for their performance in 2016. Toppi's efforts landed her on the first team for the second time in her career in addition to being named a three-time All-American. The junior started all 20 games for the Golden Rams, leading all of Division II in goals (24), goals per game (1.20), points (53) and points per game (2.65). She also led the Rams in shot percentage (.387) and game-winning goals (4). Toppi has registered at least 22 goals in each of her first three seasons. Toppi has racked up several awards this off-season, including ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, PSAC Offensive Player of the Year, and all-league honors for the third straight season. Alongside Toppi was Paustian, who earned first team honors as well. This is the second consecutive season that the senior received the honor. Paustian posted six goals, eight assists and 20 points while accounting for three game-winners of her own. The senior captured a handful of honors, being a first-team All-PSAC selection for two consecutive years and obtaining All-ECAC honors by the conference-member schools. Claiming second team honors was senior captain Marnie Kusakavitch. She made the All-America list for the third year in a row, illustrating her tremendous career at West Chester. Kusakavitch accumulated 12 goals and six assists for 30 total points in her senior campaign. The senior was tied for third in assists, while being slated second in terms of goals and points.
