Day One in the Books at the Fast Times Before Finals Event
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – West Chester competed in day one of the Fast Times Before Finals event held at Lehigh University Friday evening. West Chester's men finished four events of the heptathlon, including the 60-meter, long jump, shot put, and high jump. Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square / Marple Newtown) was slated third after seeing his first action of the fall season. Vannicolo produced a total of 2,619 points for West Chester. The Newtown Square native finished third in the 60-meter at 7.30. Vannicolo claimed the top spot in the long jump with 21 feet, 11.50 inches. The senior was not finished yet, producing a score of 32 feet, 6.25 inches for the shot put. For the high jump, Vannicolo jumped 5 feet, 10.50 inches on Friday night. Teammate Ryan Foran (South Williamsport, Pa / South Williamsport) on the other hand produced eighth for the Golden Rams with 2,289 points in the event. The sophomore claimed the top spot with a time of 7.24 for the 60-meter. In the long jump, Foran registered a score of 18 feet, 11.75 inches. Afterwards, the South Williamsport native provided a toss of 31 feet, 1.25 inches in the shot put. Lastly, Foran contributed a leap of 5 feet, 4.50 inches for the high jump.
