Day One of Fast Times Before Finals Event; Lowery Ties for First in Pole Vault
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Golden Rams were in action for the second event of the fall as the squad traveled to Lehigh University Friday evening for the Fast Times Before Finals event. West Chester's Sam Lowery (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) tied for first in the women's pole vault with a score of 11 feet, 5.75 inches. The Golden Rams had three different members of the team competing in the pentathlon as well. Producing seventh for West Chester was Caroline DiJiosia (Plymouth Meeting, Pa. / Plymouth-Whitemarsh) at 3,397 points. The sophomore finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.86. In the high jump, she leaped four feet, four inches. DiJosia tossed 23 feet, 25.5 inches in the shot put. For the long jump, she managed 15 feet, 11.75 inches. The last event was the 800 meter, where she received eighth at 2:47.26. Freshman Danielle Sterner was slated 11th at 3,008 points while teammate Sarah Garner Whitehall, Pa. / Whitehall) finished 12th with 2,495 points. The rest of the event will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 A.M.
