Kosenske & Pugh Grab Top Spots on Day 2 of Fast Times Before Finals
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – West Chester's Sarah Kosenske (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and Taylor Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa. / Milton Hershey) claimed top spots as the Golden Rams finished up the second day of the Fast Times Before Finals event at Lehigh University today. Kosenske leaped her way into first place in the long jump for the Golden Rams. The junior produced a jump of 17 feet, 8.25 inches, which moved her from seventh to fifth on the all-time list for West Chester. Sophomore Pugh registered the top spot in the triple jump with a score of 37 feet, 6.50 inches. Kosenske finished second in the event with a 36 feet, 11.75 inches' result. Meanwhile, teammate Olivia Embleton posted third at 35 feet, 8 inches. Freshman Carleigh Greco accomplished a jump of 17 feet, 4.25 inches to capture third place in the long jump. The score was good enough to place her 10th on the all-time list. For the shot put, senior Christine Johnson (Colmar, Pa. / North Penn) claimed a PSAC qualifying mark with a toss of 49 feet, 5 inches in the weight throw. For the shot put, Johnson managed sixth for a toss of 37 feet, 0.25 inches. For the 500-meter, Emily Dusellier (Harleysville, Pa. / Souderton) with a time of 1:198.79 for third place. Capturing sixth was Dara Lindsey (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks East) at 1:19.57. The senior is now slated fifth all-time with her performance. Freshman Jasmine Noble managed second place in the 60-meter with a time of 7.89, while being now third all-time. Alyson Hall claimed fourth at 8.04, while begin slated fourth all-time for West Chester. Hall also claimed third in the 200-meter with 26.88. For the 1,000 meter, West Chester's Diana Dunn (Media, Pa. / Penncrest) was positioned third after a time of 3:08.03. Dunn was recently named the PSAC Cross Country Female Freshman of the Year. Teammate Allison Lewis (Montrose, Pa. / Montrose) finished one spot behind Dunn, crossing at 3:11.09. Dunn's time earned her third all-time, while Lewis received fifth. West Chester's Holly Szita (Allentown, Pa. / Salisbury) added a score of 5 feet, one inch in the high jump. The Golden Rams did manage to have two separate teams in the top three for the 4x400 meter relay. Team "A" took home the top spot with a time of 4:03.76 with Lindsey, Dusellier, Caroline McLaughlin (Pottstown, Pa. / Pope John Paul II), and DeJanee Fells (York, Pa. / Central York). Finishing third was the "B" squad at 4:06.54, which included Alexis Ryan, Dusellier, Susanna Shier, and Bridget Walt (Phoenixville, Pa. / Phoenixville). West Chester's women will next head to Kutztown, Pennsylvania for the Kutztown Invitational on January, 12th inside O'Pake Field House.
