Vannicolo is a NCAA Provisional Qualifier on Day 2 of Fast Times Before Finals
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – West Chester's Colin Vannicolo (Newtown Square / Marple Newtown) captured third in the heptathlon on Saturday, obtaining 4,813 points en route to being named a NCAA provisional qualifier on the second day of the Fast Times Before Finals event at Lehigh University. In the heptathlon, Vannicolo had the three events of 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000 meters remaining from the previous day. For the 60-meter hurdles, he produced an 8.61 for third place. Once again, the senior placed third but this time in the pole vault with 13 feet, 9.25 inches. Lastly, he grabbed a time of 2:57.71 in the 1,000 meters. Meanwhile, Ryan Foran (South Williamsport, Pa / South Williamsport) produced sixth place for the Golden Rams, accumulating 4,190 points. Foran posted a time of 9.13 for sixth in the 60-meter hurdles. Afterwards, the sophomore managed fifth in the pole vault at 13 feet, 1.50 inches and ran the 1,000 meters in a time of 3:10.29. Slated third in the triple jump was junior D'Andrew Gursay (Levittown, Pa. / Conwell-Egan), achieving a score of 46 feet, 2.50 inches for the Golden Rams. Ryan Heimbach (Collegeville, Pa / Perkiomen Valley) grabbed fifth in the 60-meer hurdles as the senior ran a time of 8.82. West Chester's Bryce Sadler (Marietta, Pa. / Donegal), Nick Robinson (Aston, Pa. / Tatnall), and Joseph Caponi all made PSAC qualifying standards in the weight throw. Salder provided a 48 feet, 10.75 inches and Robinson finished with 46 feet, 11.75 inches. Caponi on the other hand managed a score of 31 feet, 11.25 inches. Three Golden Rams in Sadler, Gregory Raudenbush (Schuylkill Haven, Pa / Blue Mountain), and Robinson finished sixth through ninth in the shot put. Sadler tallied 46'0.50," while Raudenbush was 45'3" and Robinson contributed 43'8.50." Derrick Clement managed fifth as the freshman scored a time of 23.07 in the 200-meter. In the 4x400 meter relay, the Golden Rams' "B" squad finished with a time of 3:39.02. The time was compiled of Clement, Ray Harris, Kyle McCormick, and Brendan Latimore. West Chester's men will return in 2017 as the Golden Rams head to Kutztown, Pennsylvania for the Kutztown Invitational on January, 12th inside O'Pake Field House.
