Jackson Named PSAC East Athlete of the Week
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - So., guard Malik Jackson (Lansdowne, Pa. / Penn Wood) earned PSAC East athlete of the week honors for playing the best game of his collegiate career against host Wilmington last Monday. The guard posted a career high 36 points to go along with six assists as the Golden Rams never trailed in the 91-78 victory. Jackson simply could not miss in the first half, registering 27 points for West Chester. The Lansdowne native shot 90 percent from the field (9-10) to along with seven 3-pointers (7-8) for an 87.5 percentage. West Chester's leading scorer captured his career high by being 11 of 15 from the floor (73.3%), while being 70 percent from the perimeter (7-10). Jackson connected on seven three-pointers, matching a career best that last occurred against IUP (Pa.) in 2015 and tied him for third all-time in program history. West Chester jumped on Wilmington early, as Jackson tallied the first seven points of the contest. Jackson's spark allowed the Golden Rams to go on a commanding 19-2 lead in the first four minutes. The Penn Wood product does lead the conference in scoring, averaging 23.8 points per contest for the Golden Rams. West Chester returns to play on Friday, December 30th, inside Hollinger Field House for a PSAC showdown with Bloomsburg at 7:30 p.m.
